The Center for History & New Media

Since 1994 under the founding direction of Roy Rosenzweig, the Center for History and New Media (CHNM) at George Mason University has used digital media and computer technology to democratize history—to incorporate multiple voices, reach diverse audiences, and encourage popular participation in presenting and preserving the past.

The Centre for Computing in the Humanities

The Centre for Computing in the Humanities (CCH) is an academic department in the School of Arts and Humanities at King’s College London with emphasis on research. The primary objective of the CCH is to study the possibilities of computing for arts and humanities scholarship and, in collaboration with local, national and international research partners across the disciplines, to design and build applications which implement these possibilities, in particular those which produce online research publications. CCH offers undergraduate modules and programmes at the MA and PhD levels, hosts seminars, conferences and colloquia, has an active programme for visiting fellows and welcomes collaboration of all kinds in the digital humanities. The exceptional stature of the department at home and abroad has been recognized officially in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

The Centre for e-Research

The Centre for e-Research (CeRch) has a broad remit to work across discipline areas. CeRch works at the intersection between cross-disciplinary research and practice in information creation and management, knowledge production and ICT methods, tools and technologies. The Centre incorporates the AHDS Executive and its projects.

The Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations(ADHO)

The Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO) is an umbrella organization set up initially to coordinate more closely the activities of the Association for Computers in the Humanities (founded in 1978) and the Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing (founded in 1973). In 2007, the ADHO Steering Committee voted to enfranchise The Society for Digital Humanities / Société pour l’étude des médias interactifs (SDH-SEMI; founded in 1986 as the Consortium for Computers in the Humanities / Consortium pour ordinateurs en sciences humaines). The Conference Committee oversees the joint annual conference, which began as the ACH/ALLC (or ALLC/ACH) conference, and is now known at Digital Humanities.

Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH)

The mission of DARIAH is to enhance and support digitally-enabled research across the humanities and arts in a European context. DARIAH aims to develop and maintain an infrastructure in support of ICT-based research practices.
